OSUN ELECTION: Aregbesola Challenges PDP Candidate, Omisore To A Public Debate
Ahead of the August 9 governorship election, Osun
state Governor Aregbesola has challenged PDP
candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore to a public
debate.
Governor Aregbesola, Senator Iyiola
Aregbesola stated this in Osogbo on Monday at the
inauguration of Ayegbaju International Modern
Market.
The governor, who is seeking re-election while
speaking at the inauguration said that his
administration had achieved far more than what the
PDP government did in over seven years in office.
Aregbesola said: "Call them, let us debate on what we
have to offer to the people. It can be for one hour or
more. Ask them to come and let us debate.
"They are free to choose whether to be the first to
talk or to be the last. I don't care about that but let
them come and let us talk."

Aregbesola
The governor who said for the 90 months the PDP
spent in office, the state was in crisis but that his
administration had succeeded in restoring peace to
Osun State advised the people against entrusting
the state in the hands of people he described as
clueless.
Meanwhile it was reported on July 7 that Aregbesola
had said he is confident he win the election
because the PDP does not have the support of the
masses like him
.
He said: "I'm a product of the popular forces, by
popular forces, I mean the people, I emanated from
them, I'm a product of their struggle. I've interacted
on a daily basis with the people from the outset of
my administration. They know me and I know them. I
have affected their lives through populist
programmes.
"I'm from the street and it is easy for me to go back
to the street because that's where my people are.
Can they (PDP) go to the street?
"They don't know who they are facing; my real home
is the street. Look at me, do I look like a governor?
That's why I call my administration government
unusual because we need to bring passion and vision
into governance and break away from stagnating
ways of doing things.
"Let's meet on the street. My administration has the
full support of the masses."
Meanwhile there's no response yet from PDP
candidate, Senator Omisore if he'll be willing to take
up the challenge.
However, Omisore who is also confident of winning
the Osun state governorship election has promised
the people of the state that he will
ensure the
peaceful co-existence between Christians and
Muslims without any discrimination, if elected
